The heart lock was a huge part of this collar, a big reason I got it for my wife. Due to the size of the lock and the necklace the lock does not latch shut. I had to use a pair of pliers to get it to latch. Luckily she won't be removing it anytime soon but once she does I hope it'll lock again.
