Wire wrapping is one of the oldest techniques known for crafting handcrafted jewelry. Researchers have found elements of wire-wrapped designs in jewelry, breastplate decorations, shields, etc. in ancient pharaohs' tombs and pyramids in Egypt, although there is some evidence that dates wire-wrapped jewelry back as far as 1446 B.C.
The concept of this art is to take wire to form the shape, or foundation, of the jewelry, and use the wire itself to wrap around the pieces to hold the structure together. It's always done with only a few basic hand tools. Never any soldering, machines, or epoxies.
