CHOOSE A SAFE PLAY AREA

  • Pay attention to your surroundings and flammable objects such as bed linens, loose hair, and lingerie.
  • Think about cleaning up later, wax is a pain in the ass to clean up. Think about using a plastic sheet, shower curtain, old sheet, etc. to cover your bed linens, sofa, carpet, etc.

USE ONLY BODY-SAFE CANDLES

  • Never. Ever. Use home décor candles. They get extremely hot and can cause severe burns. They most often contain perfumes and chemicals that can be extremely irritating to sensitive skin, and possibly be dangerous.
 BODY SAFE INGREDIENTS:
  • SOY WAX cools quickly on contact with skin and is less irritating.
  • PARAFFIN: Hotter than Soy for more intense play.
AVOID:
  • Beeswax will easily burn the skin!
  • Candles with perfumes and dyes.
  • Never use candles that do not list the ingredients.

GLASS CONTAINERS
Make sure that you blow out the flame before dripping/pouring the wax. The flame can heat the glass and burn you, or possibly shatter it.

PREPARE THE BODY

  • Cooled and hardened wax is hard to remove from body hair, lol. A light application of oil will make removal easier.
  • Prepping the skin with a very light application of skin or baby oil will make cooled and hardened wax easily peel off the skin. And before the scene, the oil can be used for a nice warmup massage. Or after wax play is a perfect time for aftercare, such as a slow, gentle massage.
  • Be mindful of using oils and wax on sensitive areas such as the face, genitals, etc.
  • Always avoid open wounds.

SPLASHBACK

  • Avoid splashing by controlling the height from which you drip the wax.
  • Avoid getting closer than six inches away from the skin unless you’re okay with the risk of burns.
  • The real danger of pouring is when a piece of wax that’s on fire or very hot falls onto the skin and burns it. This can happen from any height, so it’s important to go slowly, be vigilant, and use the correct materials.

TIMING YOUR POURS & DRIPS

  • A slow drip...drip…drip can create a sense of anticipation and allow your partner to ease into the scene.
  • Others may prefer to let the candle burn awhile, allowing the wax to pool and create a larger volume of melted wax. This will create more of a splashing sensation. Just be mindful of the wax temperature, it could easily be too hot.
  • You can control the wax volume and temperature by putting the candles into a glass jar and melting them in a water bath, crockpot, or candle warmer.

HAVE FUN

  • Get creative with shapes and patterns. Allow your partner to watch in a mirror to enjoy the patterns and colors. Use glow-in-the-dark or neon wax with a black light.
  • Use your fingertips to add warm wax to strategic places.
  • You can run ice cubes over still warm wax.
  • Tap the hardened wax in those sensitive spots.
AFTERCARE
  • After any scene, there should be an element of aftercare. Both partners should enjoy cuddling, soft touches, and words of praise & affirmation. Perhaps sharing water and a small snack.
  • Wax Play should end with a massage of aloe vera or sunburn cream to help soothe the skin.

WAX REMOVAL.

  • If you’ve properly prepped the skin the wax should easily peel off.
  • You can use a thin plastic card, such as a credit card, to remove any residue.
  • If you gently oiled any body hair, you should be able to comb thru and remove the wax residue.

AND ALWAYS ...
SAFE, SANE & CONSENSUAL
